Best Summarizer Tools for Students in 2026

Illustrated guide to summarizer tools for students, showing AI summaries, notes, documents, and study resources.

We examined several of the top summarizer tools that quickly produce a high-level summary of a body of text. Ratings were based on value to students, especially ease of use, output quality, and helpful features. Here are the results.

Students can consider using any of the following text summarizing tools in 2026.

1. AI Summarizer

As the name suggests, AI Summarizer uses AI algorithms to understand the context of the entered text and then transform it into a concise summary. During summarization, the tool uses key details while preserving the main context.

A useful feature is the “Abstractive Summarization” approach. With abstractive summarization, AI Summarizer will use new and contextually appropriate words and phrases to generate the output summary.

Students can use the summarizer tool to extract key points from research papers, essays, assignments, and other learning material.

For robust summarization, an “Advanced AI” mode is provided. Besides this, students can generate summaries of personalized length using the length adjuster. We liked that the tool produces two summaries from a single input, giving students more than one version to compare.

When it comes to output, AI Summarizer offers two output formats: Plain paragraph and bullet points, indicating reliability and versatility. Users can also use “Custom” mode to summarize their text based on their specific requirements.

Key Features:

  • Available in both free and paid versions
  • Support for multiple languages
  • Summarize content by pasting URL
  • 1,200-word limit for guest users (2,000 for free registered ones)

2. QuillBot

QuillBot is widely known for its paraphrasing capabilities. However, QuillBot also offers a dedicated text summarizer that students can use to condense lengthy text in just a few clicks. The summarizer is available in both free and paid versions, and features a user-friendly design.

QuillBot’s free article summarizer also extracts key details from the entered text and generates a summary using more appropriate words. The feature that stood out to us in QuillBot was keyword selection.

When students enter some text, the tool will suggest a range of keywords automatically. The selected keywords will be contextually used by the tool to generate output results.

Unlike AI Summarizer, QuillBot does not offer any summarization mode, although the interface includes a summary length adjuster to control output length. Moreover, QuillBot provides the option to get results in the form of paragraphs, bullet points, or custom (paid feature).

If you are a registered user, QuillBot will allow you to summarize up to 1,200 words at once. For non-registered users, the limit is only 600 words.

Key Features:

  • Personalized summary length
  • Keyword selection
  • Highlight keywords used in the output
  • Output in different formats

3. Scribbr

Scribbr is another AI text summarizer that students can consider using in 2026. The tool leverages AI algorithms to shorten the given text by eliminating all the unnecessary details. It can be used to condense articles, essays, and much more.

Just like other summarizer tools reviewed here, Scribbr also allows students to adjust summary length as per their specific needs and requirements. Additionally, Scribbr offers a keyword selection feature to ensure personalized output results.

Keep in mind that only 5 keywords can be selected at once, and selected keywords will be highlighted in the output so that students can easily spot them.

Furthermore, the Scribbr summarizer allows students to get results either in the form of plain paragraphs or bullet points. Note that Scribbr comes with a 600-word limit only.

Key Features:

  • Fast and accurate
  • Adjustable summary length
  • Selection of keywords (up to 5) that should be included in the output
  • Get results in paragraphs or bullet points

4. Grammarly

Grammarly also offers a free article summarizer for students. The tool is powered by advanced NLP and ML technologies to effectively comprehend and condense the lengthy text while retaining its core meaning.

The Grammarly summary generator works in three steps. Firstly, the tool lets students enter the text that should be condensed. Next, the tool asks them to choose an output format: paragraphs or bullet points.

Lastly, students need to mention the tone or writing style (Formal, Friendly, Professional, etc.) of the summarized text. When done, Grammarly will generate a clear and concise summary accordingly.

Although the Grammarly text summarizer is free, the tool has some limitations. For instance, Grammarly allows students to summarize up to 3,000 characters. Besides this, Grammarly does not provide the option to adjust output summary length.

We found the Grammarly summarizer useful for turning long and complex text into clear, readable summaries.

Key Features:

  • Free and simple to use
  • Option to pick tone/writing style of output
  • Get results in paragraphs or bullet points
  • No signup/registration is required

5. ZeroGPT Summarizing Tool

Last but not least, we have a text summarizer from ZeroGPT. The ZeroGPT tool quickly transforms lengthy text into an accurate and credible summary while preserving the main context. The tool is capable of processing various types of content, including articles, research papers, essays, assignments, general writing, etc.

We also liked that ZeroGPT lets students adjust summary length by percentage (%), which makes the output length easier to control. The lower the percentage, the more concise the output will be.

A “Quick Thinking” mode (only for paid users) is also available to perform deep summarization. Besides this, the tool is capable of processing text in numerous languages, making ZeroGPT an ideal option for students globally.

One notable feature is that ZeroGPT can summarize up to 1,500 words at once, which is sufficient for most student use cases.

Key Features:

  • Support for multiple languages
  • Quick thinking mode
  • 1,500-word limit
  • Adjust length in terms of percentage
