To gain direct entry into the one-year MPH, you normally need relevant prior study or significant professional or volunteer experience. Applicants who do not meet direct entry requirements may be considered for the Graduate Certificate in Public Health pathway.

Subjects, Specialisations and Placement

The program includes four core public health subjects. Students then either complete a selected specialisation or choose three subjects from the specialisation areas plus the Public Health capstone subject.

Core subjects are Foundations in Public Health, Epidemiology and Biostatistics in Public Health, Public Health Methods, and Health Economics, Policy and Promotion. Specialisation areas include Social Systems, Climate and Environment, Big Data and Decision Science, Indigenous Health, Public Health Practice, and Public Health Research.

The Public Health Practice specialisation includes industry placement. The Public Health Research specialisation contains a supervised research project and requires approval from the Academic Program Director.
